Admission process at Lingua Montessori schools
I’m glad you’re interested in Lingua Montessori schools!
This page provides information on the application process, how our waiting list system works and the selection criteria. You will also find answers to frequently asked questions before applying.
As an independent preschool, preschool class and primary school, Lingua Montessori Schools are open to all children who are entitled to education in preschool, preschool class and primary school, in accordance with the Education Act (Chapter 10, Section 35). To ensure fair and equal admission, we apply clear and transparent guidelines for queue management and selection.
School choice and queue registration
To apply to Lingua Montessori Schools, you need to register your child in our waiting list system. If your child is to start in preschool class, you also need to complete the school selection via Lund municipality’s website and indicate Lingua Montessori Schools as your first choice.
If your child is not offered a place in the desired age group/grade, the place in the queue is retained and automatically moved up to the relevant age group/grade for each new school year, provided that you choose to remain in the queue. By an offer of a place, you can choose to accept, decline or request a transfer. By academic year transfer, the place in the queue is moved to the next academic year with the same queue date.
Selection criteria - pre-school and early childhood education
If the number of applicants for preschool class exceeds the number of places, a selection is made in accordance with the Education Act (Chapter 8, Section 19, Chapter 9, Section 18 and Chapter 10, Section 36). The following selection criteria, in the order given, apply to applications for preschool and preschool class:
1. sibling relationship
Sibling priority applies to children who have siblings enrolled at the preschool in question in the coming school year. Siblings must be registered at the same address. Siblings include full siblings, half siblings and bonus siblings. Admission takes place in order of registration date. If a guardian declines an offered place, the child loses its place in the queue.
2. priority for children from Montessori preschools
Children coming from Montessori preschools are given priority in the admission process. Selection is made in order of priority based on the child's registration date in the queue. If the guardian declines the offered place, the child loses its place in the queue.
3. date of application
It is possible to put your child in the queue at any time during the year. The queue date is based on when the child was registered in the queue system. If the guardian declines the place offered, the child loses their place in the queue.
Selection criteria - grades 1-6
For admission to grade 1, a selection process is carried out. The same applies to applications for other grades in primary school. The following selection criteria for grades 1-6 are applied in this order:
1. priority for pupils in pre-school classes
Pupils enrolled in Lingua Montessori schools' preschool classes are given priority for admission to Year 1. If several pupils are covered by this priority, the queue date determines the order in which places are offered. If a guardian declines an offered place, the pupil loses his/her place in the queue.
2. sibling rivalry
Pupils who have siblings enrolled at the school in question in the coming academic year are given priority for admission to years 1-6. Siblings include full siblings, half siblings and bonus siblings. Selection is made in order of priority based on the date of registration. If a guardian declines an offered place, the pupil loses their place in the queue.
3. Priority for students from Montessori schools
Students coming from Montessori schools are given priority in the admission process. Selection is made in order of priority based on the child's registration date in the queue. If a parent or guardian declines the offer of a place, the pupil loses his/her place in the queue.
4. date of application
It is possible to put your child in the queue at any time during the year. The queue date is based on when the pupil was registered in the queue system. If a parent or guardian declines the offer of a place, the pupil will lose their place in the queue.

Frequently asked questions about admission and queuing
When can my child start nursery school?
Most settling-in sessions take place at the start of the fall or spring semester. Educators and parents/guardians agree together on the best time to start the kindergarten and how long it should take. There is always the possibility to discuss the time of the start of the preschool.
How do I know if my child is registered in the queue?
Once you have submitted a queue registration, your child is registered in Lingua Montessori Schools’ queue system. The queue registration is valid until you choose to end it or decline an offer of a place.
How are applications prioritized when there are not enough places?
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places, Lingua Montessori Schools will make a selection according to the Education Act and our admission rules.
